Jennifer Garner was originally born in Houston Texas on April 17th in 1972. However, she was raised in Charleston West Virginia. William John Garner served as an engineer at Union Carbide. Patricia Ann, her mother was a professor at a nearby university. Following in the footsteps of her father she earned a degree in chemical engineering. In order to pursue her dream of acting, she decided to move to New York and try her attempt at the world of Hollywood. She was a chef at the restaurant in New York, as well as appearing in Broadway productions. Her first husband Scott Foley met her on the TV show "Felicity," where she appeared as a character. Garner received her first break with the action-thriller "Alias." Her first leading role came in the highly acclaimed romantic comedy "13 Going on thirty." Garner played a teenager trapped inside a 30-year old body. Garner picked Gary Winick as the director of her movie. They continued looking for projects until Winick's death in 2011. The year 2009 was the first time Garner was named an ambassador to the arts for Save the Children U.S.A. This role entails national literacy and nutrition, as well as early education, and many other aspects. From 2014 onwards, Garner has been a participant on the board of trustees for this organization, pushing for early childhood education.
